Why your patio turns black
In Belgium, damp and shade encourage the growth of moss, lichen and algae. These micro-organisms cling to the pores of the surface, make it slippery and eventually damage it. A quick scrub is no longer enough: the dirt has to be lifted deep down and the cause treated.
We work on all patio surfaces: natural or reconstituted stone, tiles and porcelain stoneware, polished or exposed-aggregate concrete, slabs on pedestals. Each material has its weak point — and that is exactly where experience counts.
Our 3-step method
A long-lasting clean is much more than a quick pass with a jet. We work in three steps for a flawless result:
- Moss treatment applied beforehand to kill micro-organisms down to the root;
- Controlled pressure washing, with a pressure suited to the material (up to 140 bar on hard-wearing surfaces, greatly reduced on fragile ones) and a nozzle chosen so as not to gouge or make the surface porous;
- Optional water repellent, which limits water absorption and markedly slows moss coming back.

Adapting the pressure to the material
This is what makes all the difference between a professional and a hired machine: precise pressure setting. Adapted to each material, it preserves the joints, keeps your slabs sound and respects even the most delicate stone.
- Tiles and porcelain stoneware: medium pressure, working along the joints, without bringing the lance too close.
- Exposed-aggregate concrete: a diffuse, moderate jet so as not to loosen the gravel.
- Natural stone: often at low pressure, sometimes by brushing, followed by a dedicated water repellent.
A result that lasts
To clean less often, we offer a water-repellent treatment once dry, and an annual maintenance plan in spring. Our products are biodegradable and we always protect your flower beds and plants during the work.

If badly set, yes: it can loosen joints, make a slab porous or mark the stone. Done by a professional, with a pressure suited to each material, it cleans deeply without damage. That is the whole point of trusting the job to a specialist.
Spring (around mid-March) is ideal for enjoying a spotless outdoor space, possibly with a second clean in late autumn. As soon as you see green deposits, black marks or a slippery surface, it is time to act.
It is not compulsory, but a water repellent applied once dry limits water absorption and strongly slows moss coming back. It is the most effective option for cleaning less often, especially on porous surfaces.
